The stock market is not the economy. But it's still a useful tool in getting students excited about economics and financial literacy! Learn how you can use the Stock Market Challenge to engage students both inside of class and out from content expert Kevin Smith.

The Florida Stock Market Challenge is an exciting way to engage elementary, middle, or high school students while presenting lessons across the curriculum…economics, social studies, math, reading comprehension, CTE and personal finance. Established more than 25 years ago, the Florida Stock Market Challenge gives K-12 students the opportunity to participate in an online investment simulation and manage a hypothetical $100,000 investment portfolio.

Teams throughout the state compete against students at their same grade level for the best portfolio performance over a 10-week period and are awarded prizes at the end of both the Fall and Spring semesters.

*This workshop is part of the Econ in the Real World series.

**This workshop counts towards the I Love Econ program.

Once registered, you will receive information to access the virtual workshop via a separate email the day of the event.

Unfortunately, I am unable to create a link in advance the way that you can with WebEx or Zoom. Instead, I'll send an email to you at 3:45 that includes a link to the webinar.

The basic tech:

1. You can use your mobile phone or a computer. A computer is recommended for best results.

2. Firefox and Chrome are the browsers that work best. Other browsers usually work but are sometimes buggy.

3. A microphone and webcam. Most CEFE workshops are small and collaborative. To fully participate, I strongly encourage that you have both.

Accessing the workshop:

1. You'll receive an email with a link to the workshop at 3:45.

2. When you click on the link, your default web browser will open.

3. You will be given the option to join via microphone or audio ("listen only"). Please, choose "microphone." You can mute once you enter the workshop. If you choose "listen only," you will have to exit and re-enter the workshop to be able to fully participate.
